quality of life in downtown Milwaukee is catching on.
A: A Better City - It's a lofty goal, but we can accomplish this
26-point list, from A to Z, by staying committed to the future of
Milwaukee. JFK set a lofty goal in desiring to land on the moon. As he
did, I believe that together we can realize this vision for Milwaukee.
_____
B: Balanced Budget - Every family is required to live on a budget, so
should our City. We can't borrow against our future. We can't live
beyond our means.
_____
C: Community Control - We need to return control of our streets and
schools to residents and parents.
_____
D: Downtown Development - Condo growth needs to continue to be
cultivated in order for downtown to flourish and draw new residents. See
<http://www.jsonline.com/bym/news/sep03/168209.asp> Story
_____
E: Equal Voice - Your vote and your voice are more valuable than any
political contribution.
_____
F: Fire Services - We need to maintain the current budget level for
vital services. We can't afford cuts in any of the 36 firehouses in the
city. I endorse the 2003 budget plan for the purchase of 2 new fire
engines.
_____
G: Guarantee - You have my promise that no one will work harder for you.
Honor and integrity need to be restored to Milwaukee government.
_____
H: Health - Maintaining the city health department funding is essential
to keeping the state-of-the-art support services that we already have.
_____
I: Industry - Industry does not mean dirty. We need to keep industry in
the city, providing jobs and positive economic impact.
_____
J: Jobs - Attracting and retaining young, professional talent to the
downtown area will provide for business growth and revitalization.
_____
K: Keep Milwaukee Clean - We need to cleanup the curbs, from Cathedral
Square to the Historic Concordia Neighborhood <http://www.hcni.org/> ,
we need to get back to the basics to keep Milwaukee clean. Let's restore
the Green Garbage cans to the streets of downtown.
_____
L: Labor - This City, our city, was built on the backs of laborers, from
Pabst and Briggs & Stratton, to Schlitz and Allis Chalmers.
_____
M: Mayor - I commit to put politicking aside to work with whoever our
new mayor is. As a member of Milwaukee's City Council, I would realize
the importance of establishing a working relationship with the new
Mayor.
_____
N: Nice - It's about time niceness prevails inside City Hall for
productivity to occur on Common Council issues.
_____
O: Openness - I'm open to new ideas. As I go door to door in the
District, I hear new ideas and seek to keep the channels of
communication open. We need fewer lawsuits between co-workers at City
Hall and more openness.
_____
P: Parking - A simple, flat rate of 1-hour, 1-price parking downtown
makes sense. Why penalize people for coming downtown to experience
Milwaukee? Parking tickets should not be used as a revenue-generating
tool.
_____
Q: Quick Response - From all of our city service departments, we need to
demand quick response. Calls for garbage pick-up, police and fire, and
other neighborhood services need to be responded to in a timely manner.
_____
R: Remember Milwaukee! - Milwaukee is 150+ years old. We need to
remember why we live here, in the 19th largest city in America.
_____
S: Safer Streets - More police on the streets of our city leads to fewer
guns on our streets. Let's support our County Sheriff to accomplish this
goal with unity.
_____
T: Transportation - More lanes of highway are needed to commute to and
from downtown. An evaluation of the transportation system needs to occur
to look at 1-ways, the Trolley system, and other ridership issues of
downtown.
_____
U: Utilities - Residents of Milwaukee need to be able to rely on their
utilities. The elderly in our community need to have continued access to
city water and city heat.
_____
V: Vote = Voice - A Better City won't happen if you, the voter, don't
voice your concern and vote!
_____
W: Wisconsin Ave - From the Lakefront to Marquette University
<http://www.marquette.edu/> , Wisconsin Ave is the showcase of
Milwaukee. We need to maintain the history and encourage the
revitalization of the Grand Ave, the Library, the churches, and the
hotels on this historic Avenue.
_____
X: Xylophone - Our district should continue to lead the way for
Milwaukee's music festivals and cultural events. The Marcus Center,
Milwaukee Symphony, Milwaukee Ballet, Jazz in the Park, Pierre Marquette
River Festivals, and Rainbow Summer are just a few of the music and
entertainment experiences that Milwaukee residents can take advantage
of.
_____
Y: You! - Without you, none of these things can happen. I need your
support.
_____
Z: Zero-tolerance - For officials who abuse public trust. I call upon
you to hold me to the highest standard as your representative.
_____
<http://www.brandonrosner.com/calendar.cfm> 5 Simple Ways On How You
Can Help Out?
1) Literature Distribution - we can use assistance with literature
distribution. If you want to share some literature with your floor(s)
within the residence halls, apartment building, or neighborhood, let me
know and I will drop some flyers off for you with a map to target
residents. Your willingness to slide a flyer under a neighbors door
would be appreciated.
2) Yard Signs - if you would like a yard sign for your lawn or even your
window, let me know and I will provide you one.
3) Email Support - please forward this email to your friends and ask
them to forward it to their friends within the district. Adding a few
lines of your personal support would also be appreciated. Sending this
email to some of your friends at Marquette would also be appreciated
since Marquette is also in the 4th District.
4) Canvassing the District - the 4th district is a large area and has
many homes on the west side of the district. If you are looking to get
some exercise during the day on a Saturday or Sunday, come walk with me
or with a few friends on the west side of the district (up to 35th
street on the west end and Vliet and Juneau on the North) and drop a
flyer off at the homes in the area.
5) Attend a Candidate Forum - there are a few candidate forums taking
place in the district. This is your chance to hear what all the
candidates are saying, but to also show your support to an MSOE alum.
Click on my Campaign Calendar
<http://www.brandonrosner.com/calendar.cfm> to find out where and when
the forums will be. We have one schedule for Tuesday, January 20th at
7pm in the Student Union at Marquette University's AMU Ballroom D 1442
W. Wisconsin Ave. Milwaukee, WI and another one on Sunday, February 2nd
at 2pm in Gesu Parish Hall 1210 W. Michigan Milwaukee, WI.
If you are interested in volunteering some of your time on my campaign,
please contact me. You can reach me by phone at 414-213-4146 or via
email at <mailto:brandon at brandonrosner.com> brandon at brandonrosner.com.
