In the last week, I've had at least 2 students and 1 faculty member send me messages that have not arrived and one person has confirmed not receiving email that I have a record of sending. Still, for most people, the vast majority of messages seem to be getting through. In some cases there are bounces delivered, while in others there are not. It seems this is due to a combination of DMZ/firewalling issues and overzealous spam filters. I understand that various faculty are working with CCSD to solve these issues. In the mean time, if you do not get a response from me within a reasonable amount of time, please do not hesitate to followup by stopping by my office or leaving a voice message. Nearly all of the time, I respond to student email messages within 12 hours. Responses will be slower than normal this weekend as I will be away from email on Saturday. -- Dr. Durant x7439 From durant at msoe.edu Mon Nov 28 16:24:02 2005 From: durant at msoe.edu (Eric Durant) Date: Mon, 28 Nov 2005 16:24:02 -0600 (CST) Subject: [CESE-sendes] RE: DSP Career Opportunity Message-ID: Dear Senior Design Students, If you have taken any of the DSP electives, you might find the following career opportunity of interest. -- Dr. Durant ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Mon, 28 Nov 2005 15:59:05 -0600 From: Dr. Petersen Cc: Dr. Durant et al. Subject: Hello from Colorado Hello Dr. Petersen, I'm hoping that you remember who I am . . . . I go by many names, but you most likely knew me as Bob Werth. I graduated in '98 - but visited you and Dr. Strangeway about a year ago during the career fair. I represented Skyworks Solutions (where I worked designing power amplifier chips for cell phones). I don't believe that I followed up with an e-mail afterwards, but I must tell you that it was great getting a chance to see and meet you again! About 6 months ago I left Skyworks in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and came out here to Boulder, Colorado to work at a company named Freewave Technologies where I am one of two RF engineers designing two way radios involved with data communications. Designing front end receivers and transmitter is what I've wanted to do since graduating from MSOE and now I'm finally doing it. I absolutely love it here. I actually have a question that I'd like to ask. The company has been very successful and we are looking to grow our engineering department. For the past few months we've been looking for someone who can help us design DSP technology into our radios at the baseband level. We don't need someone with lots of experience, but we do need someone who has taken the basic DSP coursework and lab and who has done well, is enthusiastic, and wants to go into this field. If you know of anyone that fits this bill that will be graduating soon or has already graduated I'd be glad to know about them. I realize that you might not be the perfect contact for this, so if there is someone else that would be more appropriate please feel free to forward this on to them or let me know who that might be. I wanted to ping my Alma Matter first on this before going other places. I hope this message finds you well Dr. Petersen!
